Senior Resources Eastern Connecticut Area Agency on Aging
Senior Resources is a strong voice for the region's elderly citizens. Through our involvement at the federal, state and local level we work to enhance the quality of life for older persons. In addition to advocating legislatively, our continuing work with volunteer and citizen groups increases public awareness of senior issues.
Our mission is to provide information and services to the aging population, individuals with disabilities, their families and care providers to maintain or improve their independence and quality of life.
ATTENTION MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES!
UPDATE! The CT Department of Social Services is revising the implementation timeline of the Program cuts.
The effective date of any Medicare Savings Program eligibility changes based on the state budget will move past January 1, 2018.
DSS expects that its eligibility review will take at least two months. They do no currently anticipate any loss of benefits due to statutory eligibility limit reductions before March 1, 2018.
Beginning January 1, 2018, a new state law lowers income limits for the Medicare Savings Program (MSP) to the federal minimum level.
As a result, many Connecticut Medicare Beneficiaries' MSP benefits will end.
The CHOICES Program is assisting the CT Department of Social Services with the implementation of the changes enacted by your legislators.
Our CHOICES Counselors will assist you with your health insurance options and explain the consequences and process of losing the Medicare Savings Program.
